The Spring hiking season is off to a roaring start! Water levels are high on the main campus and caution is advised for any canyon trips in case of flash floods for at least the next month or so. Meanwhile, the first wildflowers – rattlesnakes! – and tiny baby crickets have shown up in the last few weeks showing sure signs that Summer won’t be long in arriving.
We’ve enjoyed time on campus with some of our returning alumni this season so far, including several hiking tours of campus for foraging education as well as wayfaring training for those who have wanted to learn more about navigating the wilderness.

Before Summer brings too much heat I have a thru hike planned across the Owyhee front. While it’s no big journey it has taken a bit of research, recon, and planning to make happen. I’m looking forward to documenting and sharing this adventure with all of you here via the Ersity of Was youtube channel. If you haven’t already been there check it out – there’s a TON of great footage of the Ersity as well as wilderness cooking and more.
There’s still plenty of opportunity to get out in the beautiful Owyhee region of Southwest Idaho!
If you’ve seen my pictures or videos and want to experience this place for yourself get in touch! I’d love the chance to show you around, enjoy a cup of coffee by the creek, and help you connect with nature.
